Top Ten Tuesday: Favorite Authors in X Genre

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and The Bookish.

This week's TOP TEN:

Top Ten Favorite Authors - YA Supernatural/Parnormal Series

1. Richelle Mead - The Vampire Academy
There are not many series that can keep a reader hooked for 6 consecutive books and a spin off series. But Richelle Mead has obtained that incredible feat. This series is brilliant from beginning to end. Mead does an incredible job of connecting the threads and pulling the reader along on the adventure. The world building is believable. And the passion!!! Oh the passion.

2. Cassandra Clare - The Mortal Instruments
The concept of this series could have lost me from the get go - shadowhunters that kill demons? But Clare knew what she was doing when she wrote a character like Jace. He was what grabbed me into the series, but the world building and surrounding characters helped keep me hooked.

3. Rachel Hawkins - Hex Hall
Oh how I love this series. I'm not a huge fan of witches. But I am a huge fan of Rachel Hawkins
writing. I just ate it up.

4. Becca Fitzpatrick - Hush, Hush Saga
Hmm. I don't know what it is about this series...oh wait, I know exactly what it is about this series. And that is the hot guy, Patch.

5. Kiersten White - Paranomalcy
This series is adorable, fun and exciting.

6. Kathleen Peackock - Hemlock
The only thing I like more then a book with a hot guy is a book with two hot guys. I really do not have a problem with the whole love triangle thing as long as both guys seem worth having and the girl seems worthy of having both guys. Peackock has achieved both in this series.

7. Carrie Ryan - Forest of Hands and Teeth
Who knew a book about zombies could be so romantic? It takes talent of the writer to weave a story that is equal parts romantic, devastating and disgusting.

8. Laini Tyler - Daughter of Smoke and Bone
This book is really bizarre, and I love it. The world building is key in this book, and Laini Tyler does a great job of giving the reader just enough to follow along while leaving our curiosity peaked for more.

9. Maggie Stiefvater - Shiver
Maggie is the queen of beautiful, lyrical writing. Her stories sink into the bones.

10. Lauren Kate - Fallen
This series was not an initial favorite, but my interest grew with each book. By the end, I was enraptured with this tragic story of love.

  1. Well I haven't read any YA paranormal books so this is a whole new world for me. Lots of interesting ideas here.

I like YA but tend more to the dystopian/post-apocalytpic stuff.

    1. They are all great, but I think anything by Maggie Stiefvater is a good way to "wade" into the YA genre!
