GOLDEN GLOBES | AWARDS & SHENANIGANS

GOLDEN GLOBE AWARDS RECAP

Tonight was the presentation of the Hollywood Foreign Press Awards as the Golden Globe winners were announced.

Let's start on the red carpet...

THEY WORE RED
Zooey Deschanel, Jennifer Garner, Jennifer Lawrence, Claire Danes

THEY WORE BOW TIES
Hugh Jackman, George Clooney, John Krasinski, Bradley Cooper

THEY WORE GLAMOUR
Jessica Alba, Julianne Hough, Kate Hudson, Hayden Penettiere

AND THEN THEY WORE...
I won't name names. But you know who they are.

From grand entrances to a fairly humorous opening act...

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler were funny, if only they were given a few more skits to perform to keep the show rolling a little faster. There were moments where it dragged and dragged and then Julianne Moore gave a speech. And to be quite honest, I'm really tired of Homeland winning everything, along with whatever that movie is about Sarah Pailin.

Kristen Wiig and Will Ferrell were the best presenters. I love when funny people are funny even if Tommy Lee Jones looked completely unamused. Best line of the night..."I have not seen someone so totally alone and abandoned like that since you were on stage with James Franco at the Oscars." - Tina Fey on Anne Hathaway.

I'm not really sure what was going on with Jodie Foster. It may have had something to do with Justin Bieber? Also, I'm pretty sure she told us that she is single.... And was Mel Gibson actually in the auditorium or did they just have one shot of him that they kept reusing? I guess my mother was right when she said if you wear an ugly face too long it will stick that way.

Quentin Tarantino was either drunk or eccentric. Either way, he lost me at I would like to thank... And I don't think Taylor Swift appreciated the crack Tina Fey made about her staying away from the Fox kid. I however thought it was very funny. Will she stop at no one? Taylor Swift that is not Tina Fey.

And seriously Adele, what is the name of your small child? Oh right, Jodie Foster told us, PRIVACY.

So though some of the presenters weren't so on their A game, the HFPA (when left untreated can lead to cervical cancer - Amy Poehler) got it right!

AND THE GOLDEN GLOBE GOES TO...

ANNE HATHAWAY | SUPPORTING ACTRESS | LES MISERABLES
CHRISTOPH WALTZ | SUPPORTING ACTOR | DJANGO UNCHAINED
JENNIFER LAWRENCE | LEADING ACTRESS COMEDY | SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK
JESSICA CHASTAIN | LEADING ACTRESS DRAMA | ZERO DARK THIRTY
HUGH JACKMAN | LEADING ACTOR COMEDY/MUSICAL | LES MISERABLES
DANIEL DAY LEWIS | LEADING ACTOR DRAMA | LINCOLN
BEN AFFLECK | DIRECTOR | ARGO
BRAVE | BEST ANIMATED FEATURE FILM
AMOUR | BEST FOREIGN FILM
LES MISERABLES | BEST COMEDY/MUSICAL
ARGO | BEST DRAMA

Now, we wait another month before the Academy Awards. That gives us plenty of time to get around to seeing Argo. Allows the Academy to kick themselves in the ass a few times for not nominating Ben Affleck for best director. Gives us a chance to convince everyone and their mom to see Les Miserables. And if we are really so gungho, there are also all those fantastic documentaries and short films to add to the viewing list.

We know who won the Globe and in a month we will know who wins the Oscar.

Stay tuned here on Imaginative Adventure for reviews, previews, and life updates.

xoxo
