Resolving

So it is the new year - 2013, which means it is traditionally time for a post about those umpteen resolutions I have for the coming year. I like resolutions. I like starting a new year with aspirations coming out of my ears and a list of too many goals to ever achieve.

So, without further ado...

My attainable goals for 2013.

1. Read a book a week. This didn't use to be a problem. But now that I don't have a regular commute, I find that instead of reading, I watch too many television shows. I have a long, long, long list of books that I need to read. And this list includes Finale by Becca Fitzpatrick and Reached by Ally Condie. These two books are clear signs that my reading schedule is suffering. I should have read them the day they came out. If it takes a resolution to get me back into reading, so be it.

2. Watch all of the movies nominated for Academy Awards. Last year I had big goals. I failed. I got distracted by, what else, a boy. This year, I refuse to let my love for Oscar season fall by the waist side. No matter how blue his eyes are, I will watch all of the movies. And though I would rather watch Les Miserables again rather than seeing Lincoln...I won't.

3. Cook more! And blog about it.

4. Take lots of pictures.

5. Visit my Fairy Goddaughter at least once a month (or more likely every other month).

6. Continue to write. Finish more books!

My lofty and completely unattainable goals for 2013
(a.k.a. dreams that will never come true).

1. Fall in love with a movie star. Since these are unattainable, I will go ahead and say that in my dreams I marry Chris Hemsworth. I might have to rewrite the past to make this come true, but I am a writer after all.

2. Or...I wind up the girl with the final rose on this season of the Bachelor. Hello, Sean Lowe. I'm single, Christian, love dogs, from Tulsa (sort of), and I like your abs. We are practically made for each other.

3. End the poaching of rhinos.

4. Discover time travel.

5. Win the lottery so that I can avoid getting a real job and keep spending my days writing.

Small. Large. Likely. Or unlikely.
Resolutions are just a way of saying that I am going to live this year. And live it to the fullest.

Welcome to 2013. Dream big.

  1. Somehow, I think Liz and I are going to fall short of seeing all of the nominees this year. It's hard with a list of 10 instead of 5. Maybe we'll go on a binge though.
And if I win the lottery, I'll invest in your future as a writer.
