Academy Awards | Top Ten Most Shocking Nominations

The Academy Awards
Top Ten Most Shocking Nominations (or lack there of)

List of the movies that I'm shocked to see anywhere near the Academy Award nominations list.

1. Mirror Mirror - Costume Design
A swan dress is so Bjork Oscars 2001.

2. Snow White and the Huntsman - Costume Design & Visual Effects
Visually this movie is pretty amazing. They somehow managed to make Chris Hemsworth look even more attractive by covering him in dirt and grease. That is Oscar worthy.

3. Ted - Best Song
I guess it is catchy!

4. Avengers - Visual Effects
Let's not pretend that there was anything else good about this movie besides the attractive visuals.

5. Prometheus - Visual Effects
I have literally never heard of this movie. What is this movie?

6. Maggie Simpson in the Longest Daycare - Short Animated Film
I loathe the Simpsons. They should NEVER EVER be said in the same sentence as.... New sentence, Academy Awards.

And nominations that are surprising...

7. That Robert Deniro was nominated for Supporting Actor and Leonardo Dicaprio got snubbed.

8. Sweet little 9 year old Quvenzhané Wallis nominated for Actress in a Leading Role becoming the Academy Awards all-time youngest nominee for best actress.
A surprise but certainly valid. She is too cute.

9. The Shocking amount of weird Animated movies this year (Paranorman and Frankenweenie)
This movie kind of weirds me out as most Tim Burton movies do.

and...

10. Ben Affleck was NOT nominated for Best Director
He won the Golden Globe, and he should have WON the Oscar. Come on Academy, he can't win if he isn't nominated! Poor logic on their part.

  1. But.. but.. I LOVED Frankenweenie <3 Tim Burton is a genius in my opinion. I guess you like it or you don't :) I do hate The Simpsons. Snow white and the huntsman; the only reason why I saw the complete movie was because of the Costumes & Visual effects (and Chris has one sexy accent <3)
