Movie Review | Django Unchained | Academy Award Nom

I finally forced myself off the couch to go see Django Unchained. I don't know what I was expecting, but man it was quite funny!

Melissa McCarthy did a great job portraying Django, a woman who is off her chain and steals people's identities because she is hiding from herself. Poor Jason Bateman, a father of three and husband struggling to make ends meet becomes her next victim. She assumes the name Sandy and makes a wreck of his life...

Wait...whoops. I guess I saw the wrong movie...

This happens every award season. I swap out one of the noms for a movie I would rather see. There was that time that instead of seeing The Kids are Alright, I went to Justin Bieber: Never Say Never. This year I had all intentions of seeing Django, I really did, but...I was a day late. Identity Thief was showing instead.

I'll be honest, I was a bit let down by Identity Thief. It certainly was a waste of my pre oscars allotted swap. It was funny just too crude. I would have preferred it a lot more had it only been rated PG-13.

I can't tell you if Django is any good. I can tell you that I don't predict it to win for best picture...

But is if you have seen it, good for you.

Django Unchained:
Starring: Jamie Fox, Leonardo Dicarprio, Christoph Waltz, Kerry Washington
Director: Quentin Tarantino
Nominations: Best Picture, Actor in a Supporting Role, Cinematography, Sound Editing, Writing (Original Screenplay)
